La Santa Cecilia - Mambo

La Santa Cecilia, kökleri Meksika'da olan ama neredeyse tüm müzik türlerinden biraz etkilenen Latin Grammy ödüllü ve Los Angeles merkezli şukela bir müzik grubu - etimolojik olarak da "tüm müzisyenlerin en kıdemli azizi" olan La Santa Cecilia'nın adını almış. Ne müzik yaptıkları sorusuna "de todo un poco" diyorlar - yani bizim "little little in to the mittle" gibi; herşeyden birazcık.

Kökenleri dolayısıyla Meksika asıllı grup bossa novadan jaza, rocktan bluesa - Miles Davis'ten Beatles'a, Mercedes Sosa'dan Janis Joplin'e - her türden esinlenmiş. Grubun lead vokali buğulu ve güçlü bir sese sahip Marisol Hernandez. Bir kez Latin Grammy ödülü alıp üç kez de aday gösterilmişler. Şehirden kopmamış ve hala büyüdükleri mahallelerdeki bar ve klüplerde çalmaya devam ediyorlarmış. Grubun diğer üyeleri ise akordiyonda Jose Carlos, basta Alex Bendaña, perküsyonda Miguel Ramirez. La Santa Cecilia is a Latin Grammy Award winner Los Angeles based music group with roots to Mexico but inspired by almost all music genres - and etymologically named after the patron saint of musicians. They call their genre "de todo un poco" - a little bit of everything.

With their Mexican roots their influences ranges from bossa nova to jazz, rock to blues, Miles Davis to Beatles, Mercedes Sosa to Janis Joplin - pretty influenced by every genre. Lead vocalist Marisol Hernandez has a smoky and strong voice. The group is very loyal to their hometown Los Angeles and still perform in bars and clubs in the neighborhood they grew up. Other group members are Jose Carlos as accordionist, Alex Bendana as bassist, Miguel Ramirez as percussionist. And here is a great performance from La Santa Cecilia starting with Mambo. Enjoy.

Tamino - Habibi

Habibi... Tamino'dan... Kendisi henüz 21yaşında bu ses ve duygu topu Antwerp'li. Hayatımın önemli bir kısmını geçirme şansı bulduğum kuzeybatı Avrupa şehri. Radyo Eksen'de her sabah üç saat ayılışımıza vesile olan Gülşah Güray tanıştırdı kendisiyle. Biz şahsen afiyetle dinliyoruz. İzlemesi de fena değilmiş, çocuk her sesi albüm kaydındaki gibi canlıda da çıkartabiliyor maşallah maşallah :) Kendisi İstanbul'a gelsin, konserine gidelim. Venue'lere duyurulur.

Habibi...We'll hear this song from Tamino... He's only 21 and this voice and emotion bomb comes from Antwerp... A city where I had the chance to spend a significant deal of my life. Gülşah Güray from Eksen Radio station made us meet this voice. We listen to it with joy... It's also joyful to watch him singing live as he can sing all his songs just as perfect as its from the studio recording maşallah maşallah :) Hope to host him in Istanbul in coming days to watch him live. Jacob Collier - Close to you

Bir gün canlı dinlemek isteyeceğiniz yeteneklerden. Hani harika çocuk da denilen türden İngiliz kardeşimiz Jacob Collier. Aslında jazz pianisti ama çalamadığı bir enstrüman yok sanırım. Kendisinin Chicago'daki Lincoln Hall'da sergilediği efsane Close to you performansı da afiyetlerinize sunulur. Bu arada çocuk 1994 doğumlu, hadi ağlayalım! :) Bence kendisi çağımızın, milenyumun gördüğü göreceği en önemli yeteneklerden... Afiyet olsun!

He is one of the ones you'd die to listen live someday. This english brother Jacob Collier is from child prodigy species. He is actually a jazz pianist but there's no instrument he can't play I guess. His Close to you performance from Lincoln Hall in Chicago is served to your pleasure... By the way he is born in 1994, yes let's cry! :) I believe he is one of the most important talents of our era and the millenium... Enjoy!

A song is born - with several jazz legends in it

Jazz'ın efsanelerinin de içinde yer aldığı 1948 yapımı "A song is born" adlı filmden müthiş ama müthiş bir sahne efendim. İnsanlar jazz'ı nasıl sevmez anlamaya çalışıyorum. Herkesin kendi çapında özgürleştiği ve bireyselleştiği ama bütünün hala ağaç-orman kafasında olduğu bir nimet yahu! Bence zamana en uygun müziklerden ama zamansız da... Filmde kendi karakterini kendisi canlandıran bazı efsaneler şöyle; Tommy Dorsey Louis Armstrong, Lionel Hampton, Charlie Barnet, Mel Powell...

A marvelous but really marvelous scene from 1948 made movie "A song is born" with some off the greatest jazz legends in it. I still try to figure out why people dislike jazz. It's a music where all musicians liberalize on their own and individualize but the whole picture is still like a tree-forest binary, it's kind of a gift! I guess it's the most suitable music with our time and timeless too... Some of the jazz legends starring as theirselves are; Tommy Dorsey, Louis Armstrong, Lionel Hampton, Charlie Barnet, Mel Powell...

Snarky Puppy - Lingus (We like it here)

Temelleri Texas'ta atılan NewYork'lu jazz-funk-world-soul-pop :) kolektifi Snarky Puppy, her biri kendini aşmış 40 kadar müzisyenden oluşuyor. 2004 yılında basçı, besteci ve yapımcı Michael League tarafından kurulmuş. Jazz ve funk'ı füzyonlayan bu arkadaşlar birkaç kez Grammy kazanmakla birlikte world, soul, pop da harman ediyorlar. Eleştirilmişler ama NewYork Times gazetesi Snarky Puppy için "Onları olmadıkları birşey için yargılamaktansa oldukları gibi kabul edin" diye yazmış.

Texas born but NewYork based juzz-funk-world-soul-pop :) collective Snarky Puppy is composed of 40 very talented musicians who got over theirselves. Founded in 2004 by bassist, composer and producer Michael League, the band won a couple of Grammy Awards and blends also world-soul and pop into their music. They are strictly criticized by the 'dinosaurs' of traditional jazz and funk world. But NewYork Times wrote for Snarky Puppy as follows: "take them for what they are, rather than judge them for what they're not."

Sounds of Society: Delhi2Dublin & Jatinder Singh - Bolijan

Hindistan'da gezen müzisyenlerin füzyon çalışmalarından oluşan Sounds of Society diye bir proje dünyanın tüm seslerini harmanlayarak enfes bir harmoni yaratıyor. Bu bölümde Delhi2Dublin ile Hintli folk şarkıcısı Jatinder Singh, Bolijan demiş. Afiyet olsun. Kafanız açılsın cumartesi cumartesi.

A project called Sounds of Society is composed of fusion compositions of musicians traveling around India. This Episode is a collaborative work of Delhi2Dublin and Indian folk singer Jatinder Singh; Bolijan... Enjoy. A way of enlightenment for an ordinary Saturday.

Dub FX & Mr. Woodnote - Flow

Yine kendimi çoook yeteneksiz hissediyorum a dostlar :) Dub FX ve Mr. Woodnote gibi müzikal yetenekler yüzünden hep! Loop tekniğiyle çok sesli müzik yapılmasını sevenler - keyiften bayılanlar - için gelsin, Flow! Dub FX'in beatbox yetenekleri ve Woodnote Bey'in saksafonu zevkten ağlatması harmanlanmııış Flow olmuş. Dub FX, 5 yıl kadar önce pılını pırtını alıp müzik yapmak için Avustralya'dan ayrılmış, dünya geziyor. Bir gün bir arkadaşı YouTube'a performansını kaydedip koyunca ünlü olmuş, yürümüş gitmiş... Avrupa'da polis tarafından engellenerek sonunda İngiltere'ye geri dönen - yine Avustralyalı - Mr. Woodnote ise yine beat box yetenekleri ve loop istasyonu ve/fakat saksafondaki yeteneklerini birleştirerek müzik yapıyor.

I feel again veeery unkilled my friends :) And the reason for that is musical talents like Dub FX and Mr. Woodnote! For the ones especially touched - or fainted of joy -  by music made with loop technic; Flow! The beatbox skills of Dub FX blended with Mr. Woodnote's skills to make a saxophone cry of joy; and there you go; Flow! Dub FX left Australia 5 years ago to make music and he still travels around the globe. One day a friend of him uploaded his performance in YouTube and therby he became viral and famous... Again originating from Australia, shut down by the police all over Europe and came back to UK,  Mr. Woodnote also makes music with his beat boxing skills and loop station / and his artistry with a saxophone.
